Stopping my PreTerm Labor

So I have been MIA.  But I swear I have a good reason why.  Little Mr, Logan is trying to come early.  Last Wednesday I started to get contractions, or what I thought was Braxton hicks at 2:30pm.  They were coming every 5 minutes or less all day.  I didn't have any pain with them so I didn't think anything of it.  My Husband and I thought they would just go away, like any other night....

This time was different I guess....So I called my Doctor and was told I needed to be seen right away because they had been going on for so long.  So of course we live on a Mountain top, and we just happen to be getting a huge Snow storm.  So getting to the Hospital that I should of went to was out of the question.  We had to drive 45 minutes to another Hospital.  It was the closest one to us that had a Labor and Delivery.  Only this place didn't have a NICU.  That we didn't find out until we were already there...

Anyway they hooked me up and sure enough the contractions were coming every 5 min or less...So they decided to check my cervix.  It was closed but 20% effaced.  Then they watched me for just a bit and decided to give me a shot to stop the contractions.  Now this shot only lasts for about a half hour after they give it to you they said.  So they watched me for an hour after.

About 30 min after the shot I started to contract yet again.  They were going to give me another shot but then they just decided to stop.  So I stayed on the Machines for a little while longer and they had stopped.

They tested me for my FFN.  To see if I would test positive to going in to Preterm Labor in the next two weeks.  Well that lovely test came back positive....  So needless to say My husband and I were sitting there freaking out thinking that, that night we were going to have our second son.  Knowing that it is way to early we were terrified.

They sent me home and made me see my regular doctor the next day.

When I went in to see him, he had told me that it would be best for me to get steroid shots to help mature Logan's lungs the best way we can, just in case I am to deliver in the next two weeks.

He made an appointment for me an hour later to go to Labor and Delivery and get the first shot.

When I got there, I was hooked up to the monitors yet again.  They started me on some IV fluids just to be safe, and then I got the first shot.  And this thing sucked big time because it has to go in your hip and burns like crazy.....

Well they were watching the monitors and I was contracting yet again.  So they decided to give me the shot to stop them again.  So I got the shot and the contractions stopped...

I left the Hospital about 6 hours after getting there for one shot...Ughhhhh

So I was put on bed rest for the next two weeks, so that we had the best chance of keeping this little guy in as  long as we can.  Being that it would be safer to deliver in two weeks rather then now..

I had my next scheduled appointment the following day, back at L&D.  I went through the whole hook up, got the shot, and hello contractions.  I got another shot in my arm to stop them, and this time is didn't help at all. This time they were getting a little more stronger.  So they decided to admit me.....

They decided to start me on Magnesium.  Which meant I had to have a cathidor and that I was going to feel like crap.  That was an under statement.  I was on fire everywhere. The cathidor hut like hell.  And the room felt like it was spinning.  Not to mention that my Husband could not get down the mountain to be there with me so for the first 24 hours I was totally alone....
Now even though I was on the Mag, I was still contracting...  They were spreading farther apart but were still as strong.  They had me on the Mag for 24 hours and took my blood all night.  They also found out that my Potassium was dangerously low.  So I was given 3 bags of that by IV as well as Mag, and Penicillin.  I was also given two more shots in my arms to stop the contractions over night.

Needless to say my Uterus was really trying to get him out.  Logan was doing great and looked great on the monitors.

Every time they took my Blood pressure it would be low.  So that made me even more miserable because that meant I could only have certain meds.

My Husband finally made it down the next day to stay with me because I was not able to go home yet.  By the time he got there I was off the Mag.  He saw how strong the contractions were and how serious this stay had gotten.  The doctors were not sure if they were even going to let me go home the next day because all night I had contractions every 3 min.  But I was not feeling them.

Well we talked to the Doctor the next day and he checked my cervix again, and now I was 1 cm.  Which could be normal but with the positive FFN was not really ok.  But he said he saw no reason for me not to be able to go home. Since we got the steroid shots, and I had the Mag that was really all they could do for me...

So he said go home, strict bed rest.  NO MEDS....  So now if I start getting the contractions and they don't stop and they get stronger I have to go back.  But that this time they might not stop it.  Because I have gotten everything I could of to stop it.....

And now today is 3/19/12 and I think I am starting to loose my mucus plug...  I am trying so hard to keep this baby in..... Lord please keep Logan in for another 2 weeks at least.....
